Guidelines for Reviewers

The International Journal of Modern Achievement in Science, Engineering and Technology (IJSET) appreciates the valuable contribution of reviewers to maintaining the quality, integrity, and academic standards of the journal. Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively, confidentially, and constructively.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers should:

  • Evaluate the manuscript objectively and independently based on its academic quality, originality, significance, methodology, clarity, and relevance to the journal's scope.

  • Provide constructive, professional, and evidence-based comments that can help authors improve their manuscript.

  • Identify major strengths, weaknesses, methodological concerns, and limitations.

  • Assess whether the conclusions are adequately supported by the presented evidence and analysis.

  • Identify relevant published work that has not been appropriately cited, where applicable.

  • Inform the editor of any concerns regarding plagiarism, duplicate publication, data manipulation, or other potential research misconduct.

  • Complete the review within the agreed timeframe or promptly notify the editorial office if additional time is required.

  • Decline the invitation if they do not have sufficient expertise to evaluate the manuscript properly.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review are confidential documents. Reviewers must not:

  • Share the manuscript or any part of it with others without permission from the editor;

  • Use unpublished information obtained during the review process for personal or professional advantage;

  • Discuss the manuscript or its contents with individuals outside the review process;

  • Copy, distribute, or retain manuscript materials unnecessarily.

Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers must disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest that could affect their impartiality.

A reviewer should decline the review if they have a personal, professional, financial, institutional, or collaborative relationship with the authors that could reasonably influence their evaluation.

If a conflict becomes apparent after accepting the review invitation, the reviewer should immediately inform the editorial office.

Objectivity and Professional Conduct

Reviewer comments should focus on the manuscript and its scholarly content. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate.

Reviewers should avoid discriminatory, offensive, hostile, or disrespectful language and should provide clear explanations for significant criticisms or recommendations.

Ethical Considerations

Reviewers should remain alert to possible ethical concerns, including:

  • Plagiarism or substantial unattributed text;

  • Duplicate or redundant publication;

  • Fabrication or falsification of data;

  • Inappropriate image or data manipulation;

  • Unethical research involving human participants or animals;

  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest;

  • Inappropriate citation practices.

Any serious concern should be reported confidentially to the editor rather than communicated directly to the authors as an accusation.

Review Criteria

Reviewers are encouraged to consider the following aspects:

  1. Originality: Does the manuscript provide original or meaningful scholarly contributions?

  2. Relevance: Is the manuscript appropriate for the scope of IJSET?

  3. Scientific Quality: Are the research questions, methodology, analysis, and conclusions appropriate and sound?

  4. Clarity: Is the manuscript clearly written and logically organized?

  5. References: Are relevant and appropriate sources cited adequately?

  6. Presentation: Are tables, figures, equations, and other materials presented clearly and appropriately?

  7. Significance: Does the work provide useful findings or knowledge for the relevant field?

Recommendation

At the end of the review, reviewers should provide a recommendation to the editor, such as:

  • Accept

  • Minor Revision

  • Major Revision

  • Reject

The final editorial decision is the responsibility of the journal's editor and is not determined solely by an individual reviewer recommendation.

Timeliness

IJSET values timely peer review. Reviewers should complete their evaluation within the period specified by the editorial office. If they are unable to meet the deadline, they should contact the journal promptly.

Reviewer Recognition

The journal may acknowledge the contribution of reviewers through appropriate means while maintaining the confidentiality of the peer-review process.

By accepting a review invitation, reviewers agree to follow these guidelines and to contribute to a fair, confidential, and constructive peer-review process.
